Gastro Globe ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you sign in with Google:
- Email address — used to identify your account and determine premium access.
- Display name — shown in the app interface (optional, may be null).
- Profile photo URL — displayed as your avatar (optional, may be null).
We also store the following data locally on your device using AsyncStorage:
- Saved favorite recipes
- Chosen app language
- Subscription status
- Authentication session
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and provide access to premium content.
- To personalise your in-app experience (language, favorites).
- To determine permanent premium eligibility based on your email address.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
3. Data Storage
All personal data is stored locally on your device. We do not operate external servers that store your personal information. Your Google account credentials are handled entirely by Google's OAuth 2.0 system — we only receive the access token to fetch your basic profile information.
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Google Sign-In (OAuth 2.0) — for authentication. Google's privacy policy applies: policies.google.com/privacy
- TheMealDB — for recipe images (public CDN, no personal data sent).
- Wikimedia Commons — for recipe images (public CDN, no personal data sent).
5. Account Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently remove all locally stored data including your favorites, subscription status, and authentication session.
Since we do not store your data on our servers, deletion is immediate and complete.
6. Children's Privacy
Gastro Globe is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
